roads this morning. and of course lynette charles has a check on the weather. >> yes. >> all right, so you said of course the sinkhole is a big story. >> yes and we are actually dealing with a crash right now first crash of the day in northwest baltimore. moreen that in just a few. >> i was like listening and wondering if the fog had something to do wit. not too much fog in that area. north and west howard county as well as frederick. we can see arbutus temperature this morning that's the big story as well. we are very chilly this morning. coming in at 48 degrees. look at the dew point. oh, we are nice and refreshing and dry. 47. but how close they are together. there could be a little bit of patchy fog across that area. the winds are calm and they're not going to be as breezy as they were yesterday. so that's also some good news i have to deliver no you this morning. the temperature in glen burnie at 52 degrees that dew point at 47. and as we go into barnesville. 42 and 42 so yes also looking at a little bit of patchy fog across is that area. maryland's most powerful radar is nice and dry this morning.

the beltway. 695 no problems to report from parkville up to towson. and if you are using 95 to get into the city, no problems to report in white marsh. you're look at a 15 minute ride right now from the beltway all the way into the city. that's a look at your abc2 timesaver traffic. megan over tow. brilliant, passionate. kind. that's how those who knew peter marvit describe him. the medical researcher at the national institutes of health he was murdered. however those who know him are in disbelief over how this could have happened in the first place. they gathered to remember a man who loved medicine and loved music. abc2 news' sherrie johnson she joins us live this morning at police headquarters, any closer to making an arrest? >> reporter: well, so far megan, police don't have any leads in this case. but they are hoping that someone saw or heard something on monday night around 10:30 when peter marvit was murdered. now he was murdered right outside of his home. he was left for dead shot several times in his head and upper body. while police continue to search for the killer marvit's extended family gathered last

night for a vigil to remember him through music. 30 minutes before he was killed he was making music. he was a singer with the baltimore choral arts society. he sang with the choral arts society for five years. and it was outside his musical life that the national institutes of health researcher was gunned down outside of his home near herring run park. police believe he may have been the victim of a robbery. he was an upstanding citizen and the wrong place at the wrong time. >> his professional colleagues know him as a great researcher and a great scientist. i know him as -- we know him as a great friend and a great singer. this is a guy you loved being around and who lit up the room when he -- came in. >> reporter: if you have any information leading to an arrest. police and that you call 1-866- 7lockup. reporting live in downtown baltimore, sherrie johnson, abc2 news. if you've been to monarch med spa you will want the pay

close attention to the next story. the clinic has been shut down after three patients came down with an infection one of them ended up dying. now the investigation is focused now on people who work there in and the equipment thenar using. the state -- that they're using. the state and the baltimore county health department rig now trying to find the source of the infections. >> that's why it's important at this point now to stop everything. let's figure out what's going on before someone else dies. >> now monarch med spa said they are cooperating and that they have performed thousands of procedures without any problems in the past. if you've been to monarch in the past six weeks and showing any symptoms like fever, reddens or pain it's recommended you call your doctor right now. police say that a very dangerous arsonist is on the last right now and -- loose right now ask they need your help finding them. abc2 news linda so is live the morning in northeast baltimore. linda, that's where the first

fire started correct? >> reporter: right and that's the building right there. you can see the windows have been boarded up and all throughout this neighborhood, police have posted these signs offering a reward for any tips leading to this arsonist. now the second fire started about a mile from this location, police say both were started by motov cocktails and both apartments were fire bombed in the early morning hours yesterday while people were sleeping. here at the parkside garden apartments just before 4:00 yesterday morning. six adults and one child were hurt and they're all expected to recover. in about a hour hour later another bomb was thrown at a building in the mannasota manor apartments, police say the devices were similar that started both fires and investigators believe the same person or group is responsible. >> this is is very dangerous arsonist. anyone who would fire bomb a house where they could reasonably believe the people

were sleeping is dangerous and they definitely had an intent to kill. >> reporter: so that's the sign right there. they've been posted throughout the neighborhood. police are urging anyone with information to call them. fire department. the city fire department is offering a reward for tips. you can call this number, it's 410-685-tips. we're live in northeast baltimore, linda so, abc2 news. you can expect to see a lot more ads about expanded gambling in the next coming weeks. today state lawmakers will talk about question 7. which will appear on the november ballot. now a news conference is going to take place this afternoon. it's at 2:00 at veterans plaza in silver spring and we'll let you know how it goes and what happens. no doubt about it the orioles are probably pretty happy that they are off tonight. they had another long night that went into the early morning hours. but it certainly paid off. adam jones hit a two run homer this was in the top of the 11th inning to clinch a victory over seattle. the o's are now a half game

there could soon be less space to walk your dog or even ride your bike in patterson park. city parks and recs right now they want to add more parking spaces and put in a new road and abc2 news manny lock explains why some people want to put the brakes on that proposal. >> reporter: imagine being able to drive through patterson park into three parking lots, that will accommodate up to 96 cars for activities for the casino building and their seniors. here's a map of what baltimore city recs and park proposed

improvements wanted to do and councilman craft who lives in the area says -- >> we don't necessarily have a problem with the seniors. we have a problem with putting more cars in the park and putting more paving in the park. >> reporter: we contacted baltimore city recreation and parks for an interview and they declined and sent a statement roading quote -- it remains commit today addressing the recreational needs of baltimore residents, we understand the concerns expressed by members of the community about the opposed improvements to patterson park and will take them very seriously. we are pleased to join councilman craft in a series of meetings to seek community input on the issue. end code. patterson park is the only green space for thousands of residents using the space for walking their dogs, riding their bikes, and just having family fun. the group friends for patterson park wants it to stay that way. >> we are against the loss of any green space in the park.

and certainly against the increase of car traffic in the park. we feel the park is an asset for all city residents and we're not opposed to senior activities and the casino building. we hope there's a creative way to meet the needs of seniors and have them access the park and not lose green pace to parking and increased car traffic. >> there's not ha lot of green space around the city as it is. and also it's a safe place that i can take him and run or we can sit on the grass and have picnics and extra parking spaces in here will make it more dangerous to be running around and take away from really the only greenery we have in the area. >> reporter: in east baltimore, nanny lock, news -- manny lock, abc2 news. >> craft wants to have a meeting with all the neighborhoods and neighborhood parks and rec as well. and health department is going to happen next month. there is not a date yet but we will keep you posted. they have started a facebook page to help save the green

front to move in here as we go through your saturday. and then that finally gets out i'm going to show you all that in just a second. but before time make sure you enjoy today because we have changes coming in the forecast. still talking about the tropics because it still that that time of the season. so we have nadine getting out of here. the winds sustained now at 50 miles per hour that's heading the europe. but then the focus comes to this area of squallly weather and we can see this has a 40% chance of becoming a tropical system in the next 48 hours, definitely going to watch that. we look at the hour by hour forecast for today. and by lunchtime that temperature at 74 degrees. but we will warm up as we go into time as well. so be prepared for that. 77-degrees is what i'm going for a high today. it's going to be absolutely gorgeous outside. and the seven day forecast, brings fall in as we go into saturday. and we will be seeing some rain coming into the picture. the temperature at 82 degrees

their patients one even dying. so direct examination michael cohen with -- dr. michael cohen is with the cosmetic surgery center of maryland. you have a lot of experience. so thanks for coming in. >> you're welcome. >> all right, first things first when a patient is going to look for a procedure, what kind of questions to ask their doctor and what to look for in a center? >> well, i think it's twofold. you should is your doctor about his -- ask your doctor about his creditables and also where they're going to be offering. you want the doctor to be operating at a hospital or a credited ambulatory surgical center. the places that have the most regulations, protocols, and are scrutinized bightssies like the -- by agencies like the state and private accreditation bureaus. >> does it get pend on what you're getting done or just across the board would you suggest no matter what someone is doing, go see somebody who's

accredited? >> that's a great question. i think that's no such thing as minor surgery. that's the clip that we say in surgery. nothing is minor. you can get an infection from reming a mole. it's -- removing mole. it's very important that the facility is accredited. licensed. scrutinized and inspected. our facility is an ambulatory surgical center. we get inspected every three years and we have a book four inches thick of protocols and regular laces. sometimes patients don't know that. >> one dying, do we hear about this often? >> well, again you know it can happen even in hospitals but there are so many -- protocols and algorithms that are supposed the take place to prevent infection with multiple checks and with indicators coming from autoclaves which are the machines that sterilize the instruments. so obviously there was some breach in the -- in the sterilization process and

thank you for joining us this morning, there may soon be a new drug out on the market to help patients with multiple sclerosis. a new study finds bg 12 which comes in the form of a pill is not only safe, but actually well tolerated by patients and patients should keep in mind that there are some slight side effects. >> the main side effects are the most common side effects,

on patients treated with bg 12, were skin flushing and gastro intensal events. stomach cramping, some nausea and some diarrhea but in general these were relatively mild. >> if approved bg 12 would become the third oral medication designed to help treat patients with multiple sclerosis. the fda is expected to make its decision by the end of the year. we'll keep you posted on that story. all right, some startling news on obesity in the united states. are children may be the first in american history to live shorter lives than their parents. they're saying that's because of 33% of children are considered obese and that number is only expected to rise. so parents might be wondering, what can i do? well,, perts say -- experts say make sure your child is getting plenty of exercise and pack healthy lunches and snacks as well when they're going to school. you should also introduce them to nutritious foods at a young age because it's easier if you start them off earlier. you may have to pay the
